Chevron Tang - Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis
Picture taken June 2000 with Nikon Coolpix 950 Digital Camera, No Flash

Chevron Tang are one of the most colorful and sometimes one of the most expensive of the tangs. This Chevron has a bright orange base body color with red and purple stripes and brilliant purple fins. They tend to be rather fragile and like Kole Tangs tend to be one of the first fish to die when things go wrong.

Chevrons scrape the rocks and glass in a what looks like a cross between head banging and kissing. They flare their lips while biting at the rocks/glass with fairly strong force.

This picture was taken during its first week in the tank. He was quickly accepted by the three other tangs and he eats very well. As pictured this tang is about 4 inches.
