Acropora millipora, just added to display tank.
Picture taken May 2006, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Nikkor 18-70mm DX lens This is a small fragment of the very popular Acropora millipora coral. I've tried this species a few times over the past and never had good luck with it -- which is odd, because its not a very difficult SPS coral to keep. A. millipora may not be the true species name as many species are known to show the very elongated polyps typically of millepora. |

Picture taken May 2006, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Nikkor 18-70mm DX lens This is a larger fragment of the same millipora from above. This is actually the base of it. The top frag was snapped off to increase the odds of one of them surviving. |
Acropora millipora, four months later.
Picture taken September 2006, Nikon D70 Digital SLR, Sigma 105mm Macro Lens This shows the new growth of the first image above after four months in the display tank. That is considerable new growth. |
